Bohler Avesta 2205 Basic stick electrodes are High alloyed, basic coated stick electrodes designed specifically for welding 22Cr duplex stainless steels. This basic-coated consumable is designed to deliver exceptional mechanical properties, high impact toughness at low temperatures, and superior crack resistance. It provides exceptional defense against pitting and stress corrosion cracking in highly demanding, chloride-rich environments.
Features
- It delivers a weld metal deposit with a high Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number (PREN > 35). This provides exceptional resistance to localized pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in harsh, chloride-bearing, and sour gas environments.
- Because it features a basic coating (-15 classification), it offers significantly higher impact toughness at sub-zero temperatures (down to -40°C / -40°F) compared to standard rutile (-17) electrodes.
- The alloy composition is precisely balanced with nitrogen to ensure the optimal 50/50 austenitic-ferritic microstructure in the as-welded condition, preventing brittleness.
- The basic slag system ensures a highly clean weld metal with very low impurity levels, offering robust resistance against both hot cracking and hydrogen-induced cold cracking.
- It provides excellent tensile strength and high yield strength, matching or exceeding the high-strength baseline properties of standard 2205/UNS S32205 base metals.
