Bohler Avesta 308/308H AC/DC (Heat Resistant) Stainless Steel Stick Electrodes

Rutile coated electrode, designed for welding creep-resistant austenitic stainless steels exposed to temperatures above 400 °C .

The microstructure of the resulting weld metal is austenite containing 5-10% ferrite. It has good general corrosion resistance equivalent to the 1.4301/304 base material. The scaling (oxidation) temperature in air is approximately solution annealing at 1050 °C. Used in high-temperature industrial environments, such as petro-chemical plants and power generation facilities, where structural steel must maintain its strength under intense thermal stress

Features

  • Tailored with a controlled carbon content (0.04–0.08%) to provide superior tensile and creep strength.
  • Ideal for high-carbon austenitic stainless steels like AISI 304H (UNS S30409) as well as stabilised variants such as grades 321H and 347H.
  • Features smooth arc transfer, minimal spatter, and easy, self-releasing slag across all standard welding positions except vertical-down.
  • Compatible with both AC and DC power source setups

Technical Data

  • acid-rutile type flux coating
  • AWS A5.4 / SFA-5.4, E308H-17
  • EN ISO 3581-A, E 19 9 R 4 2
  • Up to +700 °C in scaling and high-heat environments
