Basic coated electrode with alloying elements controlled to meet the metallurgical requirements of buffer layers.
It has an increased niobium (Nb) content to compensate for miscibility (dilution) with carbon steel.

It offers excellent welding characteristics: stable arc, slag that separates easily without leaving residue. It is often used in conjunction with various corrosion-resistant coating welds; depending on the base material, an additional post-weld heat treatment may also be applied. 

Features

  • It is highly effective for joining unalloyed or low-alloyed structural steels to high-alloyed austenitic stainless chromium-nickel steels. 
  • The addition of niobium ensures excellent resistance to inter-granular corrosion. The niobium stabilisation prevents carbide precipitation. This makes it highly stable against chromium carbide formation during thermal exposure.
  • Used frequently as the initial layer (buffer layer) when cladding mild or low-alloy steel components before applying a final layer of standard stainless steel.
  • The precise alloy design provides an austenitic weld metal matrix with controlled ferrite content, ensuring high resistance to hot cracking even under significant dilution from base metals.
