Bohler Fox DCMV (Creep Resistant) Low Alloy Steel Stick Electrodes

Regarded in heavy industry for maintaining long-term mechanical stability at elevated temperatures. Optimised for all positions except vertical-down, runs on Direct Current Positive (DC+). Requires high-temperature preheating and interpass controls. Typical procedures demand a preheat/interpass temperature of 300–350 °C. The weld deposit is fully heat-treatable. Stress relieving must be performed at least 20 °C below the tempering temperature of the base cast steel, but never lower than 680 °C

Features

  • Specifically engineered for joint and production welding on GS-17 CrMoV5-10 (1.7706) type high-temperature cast steel.
  • Heavily used in steam turbine construction, valve casings, and power plant infrastructure.
  • The precise addition of carbon, chromium, molybdenum, and vanadium yields excellent fracture toughness and high creep-rupture strength under extreme thermal stress.

Technical Data

  • AWS A5.5: E9018-G (also AWS A5.5M: E6218-G)
  • EN ISO 3580-A: E ZCrMoV1 B 4 2 H5.
  • Chromium-Molybdenum-Vanadium (CrMoV) alloyed core wire coating.
  • Approved for long-term service environments up to +600 °C.
  • Very low diffusible hydrogen content (HD < 5 ml/100g), which greatly reduces the risk of cold cracking.
  • Provides approximately 115% metal recovery efficiency
