Bohler UTP 34 N (Joining & Repair-Copper alloys) Special Application Stick Electrodes

UTP 34 N is suitable for joints and surfacing on copper-aluminium alloys, especially with high Mn-content, as well as for cladding on cast iron materials and steel. The primary applications are within shipbuilding (propellers, pumps, anchors) and in the chemical industry. The good coefficient of friction enables cladding on shafts, bearings, pistons, tools and all types of sliding surfaces. UTP 34 N has excellent welding properties, spatter-free welding and good slag removal. The weld metal has higher mechanical values, good corrosion resistance in oxidising media, excellent sliding properties and a very good machinability. crack-resistant and pore-free.

Features

  • The complex aluminium-bronze alloy system includes manganese, nickel, and iron, which prevents hot-cracking even under high stress or when welding hard-to-weld materials like cast iron.
  • The basic coating provides excellent gas shielding and cleansing action, ensuring a dense, X-ray quality weld bead without internal porosity.
  • It delivers a stable, smooth arc with low spatter levels, which reduces post-weld cleanup time and ensures consistent penetration.
  • The slag fluid and crust detach cleanly after cooling, leaving a neat, visually clean bead profile.
  • The deposit work-hardens slightly under pressure and exhibits an incredibly low coefficient of friction, making it ideal for metal-to-metal wear applications.
  • It functions as a highly effective buttering layer or transition joint between copper alloys and carbon/alloy steels or cast iron without cracking or excessive dilution issues.

Technical Data

  • AWS A5.13, ECuMnNiAl (mod.)
  • EN ISO 17777, E Cu 6338 (CuMn13Al7Fe3Ni2)
  • Complex aluminium bronze containing manganese, nickel, and iron, offering high strength, pore-free quality, and crack resistance.
  • Provides a tensile strength of approx. 650 MPa, a yield strength of approx. 400 MPa, and hardness around 220 HB
