Bohler UTP Nautica Cut (Joining & Repair-Underwater) Special Application Stick Electrodes

The NAUTICA CUT cutting electrode from Voestalpine Böhler Welding is designed for underwater cutting and cutting of metals. Thanks to its special packaging, it provides a stable arc and high cutting efficiency even in harsh environments. It is ideal for diving welders and technicians working on maintenance and repair of structures in harsh environments. Designed for wet underwater cutting, trimming, and piercing of mild and structural steels, produces a powerful, focused gas jet from the special electrode coating that efficiently blows away molten metal, leaving a clean-cut surface. Easily cuts or pierces through standard subsea plates (e.g., 10 mm mild steel) when using adequate high-amperage settings (approx. 240 A).

Features

  • Formulated with a special waterproof-wrapped rutile casing that maintains a highly stable electrical arc underwater
  • Clean weld beads
  • Minimal spatter
  • All-Position Versatility: Officially rated for multiple welding positions, including flat (PB), horizontal (PC), overhead (PD), and vertical down (PG)

Technical Data

  • Gas-Shielding Action: -The custom coating elements generate a powerful, convergent gas shield (utilising CaCO₃ and cellulose) to effectively push surrounding water away from the arc zone, achieving positive weld penetration.
  • Mechanical Properties - Delivers a yield strength (\(R_{p0.2}\)) of ≥ 420 MPa, tensile strength (\(R_{m}\)) of 500 MPa, and impact energy (\(K_{v}\)) of 38 J at 20 °C.
  • Recommended Base Materials - Tailored specifically for S235JRG2 and standard unalloyed/fine-grained structural steels where the carbon content does not exceed 0.15%
