Genkins GK-7000ISE Petrol Inverter Generator 6kW 115V/230V

Site power, delivered cleanly. The Genkins GK-7000iSE is the 6 kW inverter generator in the range, and it answers a question the open-frame machines cannot: what do you do when the equipment you need to run is as sensitive as the power you need to make is heavy. It carries site-generator capacity, with a 6 kW rating and 6.5 kW available at peak, but delivers it through an inverter stage that rebuilds the waveform to a fixed standard. The result is a machine that can start a compressor in the morning and charge a laptop, a bank of cordless batteries or a control system in the afternoon without anyone having to think about whether the power is safe to connect.

Clean output, at real capacity. A conventional generator spins its alternator at a fixed speed and hands you whatever waveform results; an inverter set generates, converts to direct current, and then rebuilds a clean alternating waveform to a fixed standard regardless of engine speed. For 6 kW of capacity that distinction matters more than it does on a small set because the equipment attached at this level is not only power tools. Site offices, welfare units, till systems, lighting rigs, test instruments, chargers and electronic control gear all expect something close to mains, and inverter output is what gives it to them. Because the engine can drop to a lower speed when the load falls rather than holding one note all day, the machine also runs quieter and uses less fuel during the stretches when nothing much is happening, which on a site is most of the time.

Dual voltage without a transformer. Dual 115V and 230V outputs mean 110V site equipment and standard 230V kit both run from the same machine. On a mixed site that removes a step-down transformer from the van, from the setup and from the list of things that can be left behind. The 327cc four-stroke engine behind it is built to Stage V emissions standards, which is the qualification that matters when the work carries emissions requirements written into the contract rather than left to goodwill.

Sized for a working day. The 14 litre tank gives up to seven hours at half load, which is a shift's worth of power for most uses without a refuel in the middle of it. Noise is rated at 63 dB, quiet enough that the machine can sit on a residential street, at an event, in a yard beside occupied buildings or on a campsite without becoming the complaint. At 46 kg it is heavy but genuinely portable: one person can wheel it into a van and out again, which is not something that can be said of the open-frame 6 kW beside it at 77 kg. Starting is electric, with a manual recoil as a backup, so a flat battery costs you a pull rather than a day, and the whole unit is covered by a 12-month warranty, distributed in the UK by Wilkinson Star and supported by a brand that supplies the welding and trade sector rather than the consumer aisle.
