Further Specifications

The Oxford Multi-TIG 273 DC features a compact and portable power source, measuring 230W × 510L × 400H mm (460 mm including the top handle), making it ideal for both workshop and on site use. It offers the same amperage range for MMA and TIG welding, with the duty cycle reduced by up to 6% when using MMA. Recommended fusing is a ‘D’ slow type, with a 13A fuse suitable for TIG welding up to 200A. Duty cycle is tested at 40°C, increasing by approximately 5% at 20°C for extended welding periods. The inverter operates at high efficiency, achieving 85% (model 221/271) and 86% (models 273/413).

Fully compliant with BS IEC60974-1, WEE/HD0071UZ, and EU2019/1784 standards, it is rugged and protected with an IP23S rating, making it suitable for outdoor use when covered.

TIG Functions and Performance

This Multi-TIG gives you smooth, controlled TIG welding with simple, hands on adjustment. It starts in 2T mode for press to weld control, and you can switch to 4T to latch the trigger for longer runs. Gas pre-flow protects the weld area before you strike the arc, and the slope up/down controls let you ease in and finish cleanly without craters. Post-flow shielding then protects both the tungsten and the weld as it cools.

The 1–200Hz pulse range gives you real heat control. Use slow 1Hz pulses to place filler wire precisely and create that clean, classic herringbone TIG weld appearance. Turn up the pulse for a tighter, more focused arc that reduces heat input and limits distortion. HF start strikes the arc instantly and runs smoothly and quietly with minimal interference. With simple analogue dials instead of menus, you set every welding parameter in seconds and stay focused on the job.

Safety and Energy Saving Features

The Oxford Welding Inverter is designed with advanced safety and efficiency features to protect both the user and the machine. The system includes an automatic gas and power shut down that activates if the TIG output remains energised for too long without welding. Preventing unnecessary gas use and enhancing operator safety.

A fan on demand circuit ensures the cooling fan only runs when needed, reducing noise, dust intake, and component wear. During the welding process, the output automatically resets to off during slope down if the arc is interrupted, while the upslope timer only begins once the arc is initiated, giving you precise, controlled starts every time.

For additional safety, the output power always remains off when the machine is switched on until the torch trigger is pressed or MMA mode is selected. This intelligent design eliminates accidental arc starts and provides safer, more controlled welding operation.

Built with Oxford’s signature reliability and engineering excellence, the Multi-TIG 273 DC delivers professional-grade TIG and MMA welding performance with safety, control, and durability at its core.

Built for Reliability

The Oxford Multi-TIG Welding Inverter is engineered and built in the UK to deliver unmatched durability and long term reliability. Oxford designs and manufactures all their own PCBs, transformers, coils, and power assemblies, ensuring complete quality control and consistently high performance.

Unlike many modern welders, the Multi-TIG contains no microprocessors or programmable software, which eliminates the risk of software faults or corruption. Instead, it relies on rugged dual-IGBT power module technology and straightforward electronics, featuring a minimal parts design that maximizes reliability.

Whether used daily in production or stored for occasional welding jobs, the Multi-TIG 273 DC consistently performs at a professional standard. Designed for easy maintenance with serviceability in mind, featuring diagnostic LEDs and test points for quick and easy maintenance. All Oxford welding inverters are simple to maintain and built to last.

With British built quality, robust construction, and full 400V DC TIG and MMA capability, the Oxford Multi-TIG 273 DC stands out as one of the most reliable and versatile TIG welding inverters available today.
