Bohler Fox CEL (Cellulosic) Pipeline Steel Stick Electrodes
Bohler Fox CEL Cellulose electrode for vertical-down welding of large diameter pipelines, suitable for root runs (vertical down and vertical up), hot passes, filler and cover layers. Especially recommended for root run welding. Highly economical compared with vertical-up welding. Apart from its excellent welding and gap bridging characteristics, Fox CEL offers a weld deposit with outstanding impact strength values and thus offers the benefit of still more safety in the field welding of pipelines, can be used in sour gas applications.
Features
- The intense arc force allows operators to reliably bridge uneven root gaps, root faces, and misaligned pipe joints without blowing through the metal..
- The slag is formulated to freeze rapidly. This supports the weld pool against gravity, enabling high-speed vertical-down progression.
- Vertical-down welding with FOX CEL rods is significantly faster than traditional vertical-up welding, drastically reducing labour time per pipe joint.
- The resulting slag layer is thin and friable, making it quick and easy to remove with a wire wheel or chipping hammer between passes.
- Sour Gas Compliance: The weld metal exhibits high resistance to Hydrogen-Induced Cracking (HIC) and Sulphide Stress Cracking (SSC). It meets strict NACE TM-02-84 test requirements for sour service environments.
- The arc remains exceptionally stable and resistant to blowouts, even when welding outdoors in high winds, sub-zero temperatures, or high-humidity environments.
- It delivers a highly ductile weld deposit with consistent impact strength at low temperatures, minimising the risk of brittle pipeline failures.
