Bohler Fox E 308 H (Heat Resistant) Stainless Steel Stick Electrodes

The Bohler Fox E 308 H are specialised, heat resistant, creep resistant rutile basic covered stick electrodes engineered explicitly for high temperature structural welding.

Unlike standard L-grade stainless steel electrodes designed primarily for wet corrosion resistance, the 308H formulation optimises carbon content to maintain mechanical integrity under extreme thermal stress.

Features

  • The chemistry maintains carbon precisely within a 0.04–0.08% window to deliberately provide higher tensile and creep rupture strength over long periods at elevated temperatures
  • Features a carefully controlled ferrite content (typically 3–8 FN) to ensure a balance between hot-crack resistance and long-term micro-structural stability under thermal cycling.
  • The rutile-basic flux coating ensures a stable arc, minimal spatter formation, and clean weld profiles across standard AC and DCEP power sources

Technical Data

  • AWS A5.4: E308H-16
  • EN ISO 3581-A: E 19 9 H R 4 2.
  • Ideal for welding unstabilised austenitic stainless steels, such as AISI 304H, 1.4948, and similar creep-resistant CrNi steels.
  • Specifically designed for service temperatures exceeding 500°C
