Bohler Wearstick MnCr4 ((Wear Protection Difficult to weld-Multi Purpose) Stick Electrodes
Wearstick MnCr4 (also known in legacy lines as UTP WEARstick MnCr 4 or UTP 7200) is a basic coated, CrNi-alloyed, Mn-hardsteel stick electrode. Hardness of the weld metal approx. 200 - 250 HB. After work-hardening 48 - 53 HRC, designed for tough, crack-resistant joining and surfacing. This multi-purpose electrode is built for difficult-to-weld components subjected to severe impact, heavy compression, and shock loading, particularly on high-manganese steels and carbon-steel buffer layers, typical uses include crusher jaws, cones, and gyratory mantles, excavator buckets, teeth, and crawler track pins. Mill hammers and rock-shredding components, railway frogs, switches, and crossings.
Features
- High metal recovery rate (typically around 110–120%), meaning more filler metal is transferred to the joint with less slag waste.
- Designed with a basic flux coating that provides a stable arc, minimal spatter, and easily removable slag.
- It safely blends with difficult-to-weld high-manganese steels (12–14% Mn / Hadfield steel) without causing embrittlement in the heat-affected zone.
- Fully austenitic structure ensures exceptionally high toughness and elongation, preventing the weld from chipping, spalling, or cracking under heavy shock loads
- Functions perfectly as a cushioning or "buffer" layer on high-manganese steels before applying even harder, more brittle top-layer surfacing alloys.
