Bohler WEARstick Tool 40 (Tool Steels) Stick Electrodes

Bohler (UTP) WEARstick Tool 40 are Basic coated stick electrode for cold and hot work tool steels. Medium weld metal hardness, due to its toughness and heat resistance, ideally suited for surfacing on parts and tools subject to abrasion, compression and impact at elevated temperatures. Particularly for buildups on forging dies, die cast moulds, rollers, wobbler drives, hot-shear blades. Offers an economic solution for the production of new tools, for which a base material with an adequate tensile strength is recommended. The stick electrode has excellent welding properties, a stable and regular flow, good bead appearance and very easy slag removal. Heat resistant up to 550° C. Hardness of the pure weld metal: approx. 38 - 42 HRC.

Features

  • Basic Coating: Features a low-hydrogen, basic flux coating that ensures high-quality metallurgy and minimal impurities.
  • Smooth Arc Control: Offers excellent arc stability with minimal spatter, producing a flat, neat weld bead.
  • Easy Slag Removal: Slag lifts away easily, reducing post-weld cleanup time and the risk of slag inclusions.
  • Excellent Toughness: Resists cracking and chipping under heavy dynamic loads, severe impact, and high compressive forces.
  • Crack Resistance: Formulated to resist thermal shock and heat checking in high-temperature environments.

Technical Data

  • Optimal Hardness: Delivers a pure weld metal hardness of 38 – 42 HRC, providing a balanced blend of wear resistance and toughness.
  • Thermal Stability: Retains its mechanical properties and resists softening at high operating temperatures up to 550°C.
  • EN ISO 14700, E Z Fe3
